Bookish Ramblings: Five Things Friday

I’m going to try and set up some regular features and I have seen this on Kimberly Faye Reads, so will take up the mantle! Five Things Friday, pretty much captures many of my normal ramblings but I like how it does it in a tidier way lol  They will be almost bullet points – I will try to be succinct and won’t replace my normal ramblings entirely, but lets see how it goes.

One: New to my queue

New to my TBR this week is Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J Maas.  This is part of the DC Icons series and is actually one of my most anticipated reads for the year.  I have to say that I’m a little wary of it as getting authors to write within someone else’s world can be stunting – I really struggled with Leigh Bardugo’s take on Wonderwoman. But I have yet to read a Maas book I didn’t like so hopefully this one will tick all the right boxes for me!

Two: Favourite Book(s) of the week

At the moment I am reading State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury and I am finding it absolutely phenomenal.  If you like a ton of intrigue, plotting and shocking twists to your fantasy, this is going to be a book for you.  Unless it goes horribly wrong, it’s on track to be a 5*  I also have a kindle read on the go too, Ignite by Tracy Lawson is the continuation of the Resistance series.  Book 2 was a 5* last month and whilst I didn’t think I’d get a chance to read book 3 this month, I was just so desperate to find out what happened next to the characters that I had to bump it well up the list.

Three: When I wasn’t reading

I’ve been struggling to get through the muggle job this week, the youngest playground dweller hasn’t been well and sleep has not been our friend.  I have struggled to find inspiration for Instagram pics and it has been a real effort to keep the blog social media up.  I have a new game however, which is going to be serious time sink – I’ve already poured 5 hours into it (goodbye goodreads challenge) but it’s such a beautiful game.  Ni No Kuni II comes partially from those behind Studio Ghibli and if you think Ghibi film mixed with final fantasy, you’ll get the idea.

Four: Pic of the Week

Today Little Miss Playgrounds Owlcrate Jr arrived, her face as she opened it was a pure joy to see and we’ll be working together to bring you an unboxing later in the week.

Five: Looking Ahead

I’m not at work now for the next 2 weeks and I’m going to be spending some quality time with Little Miss Playground.  I am hoping that my Illumicrate, Fairyloot and NPC Crate will arrive so it’s going to be busy with unboxings and I’m just glad I’m going to be around to take delivery of them.  I have also been invited to re-read the opening chapters of the book I Alpha read for previously – I’m excited to be part of this process and to see how, if any, my thoughts have impacted upon the story!
