This month I decided to pick back up with Fairyloot, I’ve had a couple of months break and tried out a couple of other boxes in the interim. A couple of months was, I felt, was enough time for me to get to love them again after being bitterly disappointed with their much hyped anniversary box. I’ve seen some unboxings over April and May and felt that the standard was improving again so took the plunge with the June box and my word was I glad I did!
Opening this months fairyloot was like opening it for the first time again last November. Pretty much every single item is a winner for me. My current favourite items are cushion covers and when it was announced that the fandoms included Legendary and that a cushion was featuring I had my fingers crossed that they would match up and they did! The Quote is “Your future can be whatever you wish, we all have the power to choose our own destiny” The other really stand out item was the reading journal. Set up for the next half of the year it is absolutely wonderful. I have been spending a lot of time on pinterest lately trying to decide how to convert a note book into a reading journal and now I don’t have to! It’s got sections for noting down your reads, ratings, favourite quotes and books you want to buy, it’s all interposed with quotes by Stella Bookish Art who never disappoints. I can’t wait to start filling this out! It also looks like this will be a bi-annual feature of the boxes so yay!!
The other items were a beautiful little sparkly masquerade mask necklace, i’m not a big jewellery wearer but it is super cute and I’m happy to have it as an option to wear out one time (if the younger playground dwellers ever let me!) The now seemingly obligatory candle is present, based on the Nevernight series by Jay Kristoff (one on my tbr to be sure) and continues the trend for fairyloot to include a Geeky Clean item in their boxes – I think April is the only month so far this year not to do so. And why not, they are a great company with ethical and environmentally friendly goods – Strawberry and Pepper is the fragrance which isn’t as bad as it sounds! An Iron on patch from my favourite Ink and Wonder designs was included and is based on the Selection, I’m not sure if this is an item i’ll keep as it’s not a series that I want to read but it’s still beautiful none the less, and finally a set of magnetic bookmarks featuring characters from the Shatter Me series, i’m really not a fan of these books so hopefully I can pass these on to someone who is!
The featured book this month is Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart which was correctly guessed by the contributors over at Book Box Sherlocks. The fairyloot version has some great features, firstly it’s printed in hardback and the standard UK edition is paperback only. There’s a quote on the front of the hardcover under the dust jacket and the silhouette image on the back – it’s quite lovely! Here’s the blurb “In a world where women have no rights, sisters Serina and Nomi face two very different fates: one in the palace, the other on an island prison where women must fight to survive. Serina has spent her whole life preparing to become a Grace – selected to stand by the heir to the throne as a shining example of the perfect woman. But her headstrong and rebellious younger sister has a dangerous secret, and one wrong move could cost both sisters everything. Can Serina fight? And will Nomi win?” It’s not out until next month either, so double bonus!
All in all I think that this months box represents awesome value for money (which had been a gripe previously) I know that everyone finds different things useful and this month was definitely one for me! I’ll stick around and see what next months brings for sure 🙂
