Bookish Ramblings: Five things Friday!

Here are my five things for this friday!

New to my Queue

I’ve delved back into the word of Netgalley and have been picked up to read The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi, it’s a historical fantasy and has a heist element and it is giving me Six of Crows vibes.  It sounds pretty awesome and I love that I get to read it so far ahead of it’s release in January and the cover is absolutely stunning!

It’s 1889. The city is on the cusp of industry and power, and the Exposition Universelle has breathed new life into the streets and dredged up ancient secrets. Here, no one keeps tabs on dark truths better than treasure-hunter and wealthy hotelier Séverin Montagnet-Alarie. When the elite, ever-powerful Order of Babel coerces him to help them on a mission, Séverin is offered a treasure that he never imagined: his true inheritance.

To hunt down the ancient artifact the Order seeks, Séverin calls upon a band of unlikely experts: An engineer with a debt to pay. A historian banished from his home. A dancer with a sinister past. And a brother in arms if not blood.

Together, they will join Séverin as he explores the dark, glittering heart of Paris. What they find might change the course of history–but only if they can stay alive.

Favourite read(s) this week

I’m sad to say I’ve had a pretty dismal week with reading.  I had to DNF a book that I tried desperately to get into, but at 2/3 through I just had to accept that I had skimmed a lot of it and there were just too many other books that I wanted to read more. I do this rarely and it was only the second book I have done that to this year.  I did however enjoy Essence by Hayley Gabrielle which was my new to my queue book last week, and I’m currently reading Scythe by Neil Schusterman, which is pretty much ticking all the right boxes so far!

When I wasn’t reading

My hands are finally feeling better and I have been catching up with Ni No Kuni 2, I have to pick up the pace on it as Mr Playground has just pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2 which means plenty more reading time for me but sadly not much time for the playstation. I’ve also this week paid for my ticket for Chapter.con in London next June, it’s an amazing inclusive and inspirational residential event, full of panels and keynote speeches for aspiring authors, bloggers and author assistants, it’s going to be fab!

Pic of the Week

I’m absolutely loving my rep term for Geeky Clean and it’s always awesome to feature their products in my pics.  This week I featured their Sorting Hat inspired bath bomb which i’ll be trying out tonight, Pottermore has me as Ravenclaw, so lets see where Geeky Clean put me!  Remember you can use my rep code Postapoca10 between now and January 1st for a 10% discount on theirs and Nerd Poured Candle products.

Looking ahead

On the 23rd Kingdom of Ash, the final instalment of the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas, is released.  That will be life, nothing else next week matters!
